Past
Chief Commander C.F. (Mike) Dumaresq, N passed away peacefully on Sept.
9, 2001 in his 84th year.
Mike
was a great family man.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, 4 children, and their
respective families.
Mike was a devoted Grandfather and was loved by all the
grandchildren.
Mike
was a veteran of W.W.2 serving with the Grenadier Guards in 1940. After
being severely injured at the Gothic Line in Italy, Mike taught in
battle schools in England and Canada.
Sitting
in a pew in the funeral home in Kingston, Ontario, along with several
other members of CPS from far and wide, we contemplated Mike’s great
contribution to the continuance of our founding beliefs in SAFETY
through EDUCATION.
Mike
had a committed belief that either or both official languages must be
used, wherever necessary, to deliver the message of safety.
Mike had difficulty in speaking French but with his fluently
bilingual life’s companion, Muriel, by his side; he managed to
generate affection in all members of CPS for his efforts to master that
language.
Mike
was our Squadron Commander from 1965 to 1967 and rose to be Chief
Commander of CPS in 1977.
I
was privileged to be his “aide de Camp” during his term as C/C when
the convention was held at the Mount Royal Hotel in Montreal. It remains
the biggest and most attended convention of CPS to this day.
Mike
will be remembered as a sincere devoted person who put his all, into
every project that he undertook.
We will miss him.
R/C
Marty Hornstein, AP, Ret.
We wish him a secure corner on Fiddlers' Green.
