It is with
sadness that I write about the passing of our Past Squadron Commander,
John Cunningham. Jack, as he was known by us old-timers, went on to be
National Treasurer, a job he came to quite naturally after so many years
of being the Senior-Treasurer of the CNR.
Our students, under his tutelage, for many years obtained the highest
passing rates throughout CPS in chartwork and associated subjects. Jack
introduced the Instructor Training Course in our Squadron, that has been
the backbone of improved teaching abilities among our members who give
of their time to teach our classes.
With Jack's background as a Major in the Grenadier Guards, later rising
to be a senior Vice-President in charge of finance at Canadian National
Railways, he brought to our Squadron and to National, his managerial and
people-oriented skills.
Jack brought colour and excitement to the ball at National Conventions
when he arrived in his Scottish Kilts, complete with "skein
die". A man of quiet dignity, his candor, sincerity and honesty
will be remembered by all of us who knew him. We extend to Dorothy, his
wife, whom he cherished, our sympathy and comfort that so many of us
remember his so fondly.

We wish him a secure corner on Fiddlers' Green.
